MU Athletes In the News And Not In A Good Way

Wednesday, June 28, 2006

A former MU football player has been arrested for using a stolen credit card and an MU basketball player may be involved as well. Alex Woodley, a former cornerback on the football team, turned himself in to police. Woodley was kicked off the team for violating team rules prior to the 2005 season but was allowed to stay in school and returned to the team before being kicked off the team again recently. Woodley, a Redshirt Junior from Mesquite, TX, is still listed on the team roster on mutigers.com. The website lists him as a walk-on trying to earn a scholarship. Read his bio by clicking on the first mention of his name.

Kalen Grimes, a center on the MU basketball team, is also mentioned in the article, but has not been charged as of yet.

Check out Kalen's quote in the article:

"As far as I know, I don’t know anything about that"
--Kalen is apparently waiting for Mike Alden or Elson Floyd to tell him what he knows about it

Question: Why are people so dumb? Don't these players realize they are gettin a free education or other perks just to play a sport? Why screw it up?
